A cool deck:
Over the past few days we've been looking to buy a dilapidated Cobble Hill building with friends (as you may know from Bri's mention). The back garden is small and horrific shape (like the rest of the place) but it can be fixed much, much easier than the interiors. I've already decided for everyone that this decking by designer Ethan Ames (see this post) is what we should have. The stainless strips make the typical suburban deck look cleaner and more contemporary.

If you go for it, I recommend checking out a book or two by Diarmuid Gavin. If I had the money and property I'd hire him in a shot.
(His site is a bit crap but if you run his name through google images you'll see some of his stuff).
I love Diarmuid Gavin's work. Before we moved into our current apartment I bought several of his books to help us plan our yard.
Up here in Maine I forget sometimes that you are a man of the world. I should probably have said, "You probably know about Diarmuid Gavin.."
We have a blank canvas out back; the only trouble is that a previous owner thought the lawn was a good substitute for a recycling bin and it keeps throwing up shards of glass and metal.
We are familiar with that problem. Our building was a lumberyard before it turned condo and the back was probably just a heap of junk.
um, where would the astroturf and pink flamgoes go? I think we are going to have some aesthetic differences.
Oh, Red Balloon, you are so funny. Pink flamingos, ha, ha ha, ha. You should know now that there will be no pink anything in that yard! (Bri is now glaring at me so I guess there can be pinkish flowers— possibly.)
I think we need a house meeting immediately. Everyone will share their feelings. But you can only talk when you are holding the Talking Stick.
That, of course, means that I get to hold the Talking Stick the whole time. Right?
