Tolomeo Wall Spot Light:
Bri objected to yesterday's coveted object, so the search for a reading light for our bedroom continues. I've been in love with Artemide's Tolomeo for years and maybe now is finally my chance to bring one home. Both Barcelona hotels in which we stayed this summer used the larger Tolomeo Classic Wall lamp, which Bri found too industrial. The smaller version is softer looking than the bigger one and has what I would consider to be a certain cuteness.
In 1989, the Tolomeo table/task lamp was given the Compasso d'Oro award for Italian industrial design. It was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering.

Better. I think we may be getting warmer. I can't help but notice, though, the lack of a price....
It would cost less than 2 of the previous West Elm lights and about $60 less than my favorite sconce for the living room. How's that for a math problem for you?
Also, shipping is free.
I do NOT do math problems for such piddly items as reading lamps that could be purchased for less than 10 dollars at Ikea if I ever, ever got my way in anything relating to furniture. Just fricking tell me already.
$145. And there will never be any $10 reading lights in our apartment. (Besides, I don't think even Ikea would have lamps THAT cheap.)
He needs to come back from birthday land and update, because he now officially has this. Thanks to my nice, financially-well-endowed parents.
Is this the first item from coveting that you have actually achieved? Or did I get you some cufflinsk from this?
I believe the Tolomeo was number 7 or 8 of the coveted-items-that-have-been-attained list. There have been a couple pairs of shoes, a mirror, some cufflinks. I'm a lucky boy.
